Initial Yarn Tutorial

Occasionally I actually start a project and finish it in the same day...and today was one of those days :)  I feel accomplished!

I made this M with just cardboard and yarn & I embelished it with a little fabric flower.

I had a box in our garage that was just sitting there so I drew at the letter M for my and my husband's last name intial.
I wrapped the yarn around the cardboard after I cut out the M.   I just used hot glue to glue the yarn every so often from the back of the M.
After wrapping and warpping it finally came out like this :)

Crafty Goodness

So I have been thinking about trying to dye my own yarn...   Have you tried to do this?  I really don't even know where to begin but I have seen some beautiful yarn that was hand dyed.  Maybe I need something like this?  Any tips or suggestions?

Last night I spent my night making these little embellished bobby pins :)  I like them!
